Sweet July didn’t plan just a product drop, they created an entire experience for the launch of their new lip treatment. They teamed up with b. patisserie, one of San Francisco’s most beloved bakeries, and brought me in to add a personal touch. We personalized lip treatments for guests with live hot-foil engraving.

If you’re planning a product launch or brand activation in the Bay Area and wondering what live personalization can add to the event, this one’s a good example of what’s possible.
The event was part product launch, part pop-up, part pastry shop take over. b. patisserie created a pastry exclusively for the occasion, and customers were able to shop the lip treatments and baked goods. The line started an hour before doors opened and it did not slow down the entirety of the event.

I hot-foil engraving names and initials directly onto the lip treatments for anyone who purchased one. It’s a small detail, but it made people excited. It made people purchase more as gifts for their friends and family. It made people post and share on social media.
A few weeks ahead of the public event, I also engraved cake servers for Sweet July’s PR gifting to build buzz around the launch. Personalizing gifting pieces with a recipient’s initials is one of my favorite ways to work with brands because it elevates a standard PR package into something that feels intentional and personal. (Some of those initials belonged to names you’d recognize, including Kim Kardashian 😉.)

Live engraving, foiling, or calligraphy works well for activations like this because it does things a static product table can’t:

If you’re a brand, agency, or planner thinking through activation ideas, this is exactly the kind of detail worth building in early.
